Easy Flavored Waters
When summer hits, I know I am supposed to drink more water, but it can get boring and tasteless. But years ago I discovered the trick of flavoring waters. The first one I made out of desperation. I was pregnant with twins and had nausea. A friend suggested I try ginger tea. When I was pregnant nothing hot sounded good, so I made a ginger tea with lemon, and then chilled it and the most refreshing summer drink was made!

Making flavored waters is super easy. Just add fruit, veggies or herbs and let sit overnight in the fridge. You can get fancy pitchers that have perforated tubes for holding the flavorings, but a simple mason jar will do the trick.
A few of my favorite flavor combos are:
Strawberry Basil
Watermelon Mint
Orange
Cucumber
Lime Mint Mojito (Mint leaves and lime juice)
Lemon Ginger
Lemon Ginger is the only one that I like to cook. For 2 quarts of water, take a 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, chopped and the peel of one lemon and bring to a boil in a saucepan with 2 quarts of water. Once it begins to boil, turn off the heat and let the water come to room temperature. Strain out the ginger and lemon peel and add the juice of 1 lemon. Chill and serve.
